Midfielder begs for permission to complete Manchester United transfer

Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler has begged his club to allow him to move to Manchester United, according to reports.

The youngster has been linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks after making some scintillating performances for Los Che, as well as at Under 21 level for Spain. He has featured in every game for high flying Valencia this season, who are currently in second place, seven points behind Barcelona and three points ahead of the two Madrid sides, Real and Atletico.

His form prompted the La Liga side to tie the 20-year-old down to a new contract with a huge €80million release clause to try to fend off attention from Europe’s biggest clubs.

However, the Sun claim that they have been told by their sources that the midfielder has begged club officials to allow him a transfer to Old Trafford, after Jose Mourinho made signing him one of his priorities. Mourinho has been desperately short of creativity in midfield in the absence of Paul Pogba for the last two months. Pogba returned from injury during Saturday’s victory over Newcastle, with the Frenchman instantly making an impact with a goal and an assist.

Despite Soler’s bumper release clause, Manchester United are hopeful to strike a deal for around the £45million Mark, especially considering the Spanish side’s financial problems. They could also use Valencia’s interest in Andreas Pereira and Marouane Fellaini to their advantage.

However, speaking of the supposed interst from United, Soler recently told Cadena Cope:

“You already know it, I’m focused on Valencia.

“Regarding those things, I know nothing.

“It would be foolish to think about those things right now.”

Real Madrid set to rattle Man United for De Gea

Real Madrid are set to renew their interest in David De Gea, as the goalkeeper enters into the final year of his contract at Manchester United.

The Red Devils are bracing themselves for another attempt by Real Madrid to land Gea, and there is an acceptance at Old Trafford that the 27-year-old Spain international’s ambition to play for the La Liga giants is making it more difficult to keep him with every season that passes.

De Gea told United in 2015 that he wanted to move to the Bernabeu when a swap deal involving Costa Rican No.1 Keylor Navas collapsed at the 11th hour.

Former Atletico Madrid favourite De Gea then signed a new four-year contract.

But he will have just 12 months left on that deal next summer, and United believe that Madrid will test their resolve once again as they search for a replacement for Navas.

Dubbed the 'Magic Boy' See the One-legged Footballer Wowing Fans Across the Globe

A 21-year-old footballer with one leg has left many people baffled following his unbelievable exploits in the football pitch.

He Yiyi has wowed fans across the globe with his unbelievable ability

A one-legged footballer has captured the hearts of millions of Chinese fans after a widely circulated video showed him holding his own against able-bodied opponents and scoring a rasping right-footed drive, AFP has reported.

The young man identified as 21-year-old He Yiyi lost his leg to childhood cancer and uses crutches to support himself when playing. He has now earned him several endearing nicknames including “Angel with Broken Wings”, “Ball King with One Leg” and “Magic Boy”.

He, who had gained the notice of a French scout as a child before losing his leg, plays in the odd pick-up match in the southern province of Guangdong after being denied access to organised amateur leagues.

A video of him playing an exhibition and talking about the challenges he faces against able-bodied opponents has been watched nearly four million times online, and counting.

In 2008, just before his life-changing diagnosis, He was spotted by a French scout and he was all set to go to France to forge a career as a professional.

But before he could even get a passport the pain he had been suffering for some time in his left leg was diagnosed as osteosarcoma, a cancer that most commonly occurs in children and young adults.

Doctors told him that his best chance of long-term survival was to have his leg amputated.

He said that on the rare occasions he is allowed to play competitive football, opponents often target, tease or abuse him.

“They want me out in the first few minutes and will shout, ‘What are you doing here?'” he said.

He prefers crutches to an artificial leg because his amputation is high up on his left leg, so a prosthesis would give him very limited control — plus crutches are more comfortable.

And he purposely uses cheap crutches so that when opponents tackle him the crutches will just break rather than hurt the other player, as sturdier ones might.

He has a message for others reluctant to pursue their sporting dreams because of disability.

“You should take a positive attitude towards life, don’t trap yourself at home whining,” he said. “It is only you who can save yourself. Isn’t it better to give others a smile?”

Some Man United fans have taken offence to Romelu Lukaku's tweet

Romelu Lukaku.

It all started so well for Romelu Lukaku at Old Trafford.

When the big Belgian moved from Everton for £75 million in the summer, it was speculated that he wasn't Mourinho's first choice.

After moves for Antoine Griezmann and Alvaro Morata failed to materialise, United stumped up the cash for Lukaku and allowed all-time record scorer Wayne Rooney to depart on a free the other way.

However, the 24-year-old made a blistering start to his career as a Red Devil by netting 11 times in his first 10 games.

His goals have helped make United a legitimate title contender for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson retired, but after failing to score in his last seven games for United, his critics have begun to pipe up.

Lukaku did manage to score a brace for Belgium in their 3-3 draw with Mexico earlier this week to become Belgium's joint all-time record goalscorer - at 24 remember - but can he take his form back to United?

After netting the confidence boosting goals, Lukaku sent out a tweet thanking his 'real fans', seemingly a shot at the United fans that has criticised his recent form.

'Real fans' huh? It's never a good idea to hit back at the fans, but maybe he's just following his manager's lead after Mourinho's recent not-so-subtle comments in the United programme notes.

As you can see from the tweets below, while most fans continue to back him, plenty United fans weren't overly happy.

Overated as usual inconsistent all the time

Speaking after Lukaku's goalless display against Spurs at the end of October, Mourinho publicly backed his forward.

“The fans are the fans and I also told [on Saturday] that the fans pay for their tickets and are free to express themselves the way they want to express,” Mourinho said. “But my job, when I feel they deserve it, is to protect my players.

"Romelu is one of the players that should be untouchable in terms of the respect of everyone. It’s not one goal or the ball goes against the post or a save by the opposition keeper that can make Romelu’s contribution below the top level.

“He is playing extremely well for us and yes I have to protect my players when I feel they deserve it. And Romelu always deserves it because what he does for the team is fantastic. Playing football for a striker isn’t just about scoring goals.

"So for me [he is] untouchable in my team and I think he should be untouchable in support from the fans. But fans are fans, they pay the ticket and do what they want. As a manager I feel duty to protect my players when I feel they deserve it."

Video: Chance! He's just a yard away and faces an empty net! Oh and he misses it unbelievably!

Get ready to cringe.

Brentford’s Neal Maupay found himself in a position most players dream of for bagging a goal to level a game, let alone a forward.

However, in spite of his number nine jersey, it wasn’t to be for the Bees at the Cardiff City Stadium. Take a look what happened.

A remarkable miss.

A goal behind and in behind the goalkeeper, 21-year-old Maupay should have been celebrating levelling the game. But instead it was Cardiff who struck next – scoring just two minutes later to secure a 2-0 lead before half time, which they would hold onto for the three points.

The win leaves Cardiff in third place in the Championship, four points from the leaders Wolves. Menawhile, Brentford sit 13th – an opportunity to gain ground on the four point gap between them and the play-off spots missed.

Isco the pick of a bad bunch in Real Madrid's scoreless derbi draw

Cristiano Ronaldo missed a late chance for Real Madrid in a scoreless draw with city rivals Atletico.

Cristiano Ronaldo missed a late chance for Real Madrid in a scoreless draw with city rivals Atletico.

Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid both fell 10 points behind Barcelona after their derby finished scoreless at the Wanda.

Third and fourth in La Liga met in the Madrid derby, but the only winner was Barcelona as Real Madrid ground out a soulless 0-0 draw in the Metropolitano.

Atletico Madrid's Angel Correa had a golden opportunity to open the scoring on three minutes and that turned out to be the highlight of the goal-mouth action in a game that was a poor return on the investment made by paying customers.

Positives

Defeat was avoided, but that was the minimum requirement for Zinedine Zidane. Otherwise, this was a repetition of the malaise that has afflicted the Frenchman's side this season.

Negatives

A complete lack of attacking ideas, shoddy defending, star players performing well below their pay packets and a generally lacklustre performance. And those were the highlights. Were it not for Isco you could have been forgiven for thinking you were watching Forest Hill.

Manager rating out of 10

3 -- There is no escaping it now: Zidane is not going to bench senior players even if they turn out in full Cuckoo's Nest mode, shuffling around while Cristiano Ronaldo exhorts them to raise their hands if they want to watch the ball game. The Real boss had the chance to kick a few backsides in his team selection but watched impotently as a tired formula failed miserably again. Marco Asensio got a cameo. Dani Ceballos didn't even make it off the bench. Real had three shots on target.

Player ratings (1-10; 10 = best. Players introduced after 70 minutes get no rating)

GK Kiko Casilla, 6 -- The No. 2 will come out of this just fine: He made a grand total of zero saves and was close to inching into the top five Real players in terms of pass completion success. Can he play Atleti every week?

DF Dani Carvajal, 6 -- The good news is that Carvajal was available at all after a heart condition, but a yellow for a lunging challenge on Lucas Hernandez suggested he's not quite up to speed. He was in good company.

DF Raphael Varane, 7 -- To blame for letting Correa in but made amends by cutting out a ball falling for Antoine Griezmann. He made at least two more vital interventions, not least a goal-line clearance from Kevin Gameiro. Led the way in pass completion with 96 percent when all around him were losing their heads.

DF Sergio Ramos, 6 -- Was alone in reading a run from Koke early on but had his evening cut short by a boot in the face from Lucas Hernandez in the first half and did not emerge for the second.

DF Marcelo, 5 -- The Brazilian looks out of sorts and was given the run-around by Correa while offering little going forward. Another player enjoying his pitch time on the basis of reputation and the youth of his understudy.

MF Casemiro, 7 -- Casemiro enjoyed complete air superiority, winning three times as many headers as anyone else on the pitch. In a battle of attrition against Atleti's physical midfield, he still found time among several successful tackles to complete 90 percent of his passes.

MF Luka Modric, 5 -- An anonymous first half was almost inevitable. Zidane rested the Croatian ahead of international duty but somehow expected him to return fresh enough to have a crack at a derby. That he was subjected to the full 90 is another question mark against Zidane's game management.

MF Toni Kroos, 7 -- Went close after a neat one-two with Ronaldo in the first half and tested Jan Oblak with a stinging drive on 86 minutes. The German is far from at his best, but in the current form pool he is swimming lengths while others are flailing in the shallow end.

MF Isco, 8 -- Once again, the Malagan magician was the pick of the bunch. Not only did he show more willingness than any of his teammates to attack the Atletico defence, he also stuck in more tackles (7) than anyone on the pitch. You can't really ask for much more.

FW Cristiano Ronaldo, 5 -- Two of his seven shots were on target on Saturday, taking Ronaldo's accuracy rate to roughly one goal for every 50 attempts in the league. The Portuguese had a decent chance at the death but his first touch eluded him, allowing Lucas Hernandez to block. His confidence and marksmanship are shot.

FW Karim Benzema, 4 -- A ball smack in the face from Correa in the first half was the closest Benzema came to troubling Oblak, and if that sounds harsh imagine Borja Mayoral's reaction to another bench-warming evening. The canterano should look elsewhere for a game in January, because Benzema will continue to be handed starts despite a return of zero shots on goal in the Metropolitano.

On a disappointing night for Real Madrid, Isco showed more effort and made more tackles than his teammates.

Substitutes

DF Nacho, 6 -- On for the stricken Ramos, did enough to warrant his position in the pecking order against a toothless Atletico attack.

FW Marco Asensio, NR -- On for Benzema, one of many who must be wondering if a different handshake is required at the changeover to gain access to the inner circle.

Man Utd boss Mourinho: I'm trying to find room for Rashford and Martial

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho was happy for Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford after victory over Newcastle United.

Mourinho admits it can be difficult to play the pair together, but was pleased to see Martial score and Rashford provide an assist.

He said: "They both like to play in the same position and that is difficult. They both prefer to play on the left than on the right. When both play with another striker through the middle, we lose a point of contact with a midfielder that we are used to, with a player playing behind the striker.

"But when we started finding them both on the left, between the striker and the winger, was the moment in the first half when we started creating more. In the first half, we felt a little bit unstable in our defensive areas and that was clearly not because of the defensive players, but because of our balance. So to play them together gives us things but also takes some things away."

Mourinho was also delighted for Romelu Lukaku after he broke his scoring drought.

"He is a striker and strikers like to score goals. It is not a problem for me if he works like he does and he doesn't score goals but, for the self-confidence, strikers love to score goals. He was not doing that for us for a few matches and I know that can affect strikers' confidence, so I was really happy that he scored that goal."
